Help is more important than money

The WYCE Gambia NGO (non-governmental organisation) was founded in 2001 by Keith and Hilary Walker. The WYCE mission statement.

The idea behind the project was to create a self-sustaining partnership with the people of Medina Salam with an emphasis on education and health. This would allow the people of the village to create a better life for themselves, without the reliance on money from the UK.

The project has been enormously successful. Now in its 17th year, the project has forged partnerships with other companies and charities. Under the guidance of country director Lamin Kijera and the NGO board of directors, the NGO is now growing in size and stature.

Unlike any other charity in the Gambia, by 2021 WYCE Gambia will be completely self-sustaining.
